Ramsgate Pier & Pegwell Bay – places to go shore fishing, Kent, England, UK

The East pier at Ramsgate is free fishing
round the clock, offers flat access onto the pier, has decent modern toilets, parking at
the start of the pier and I’ve even seen anglers drive their cars up to where they’re fishing. Just be aware when planning your trip, the
foot of the pier does dry out at low tide, so plan to be here a couple of hours either
side of high water. It does get very busy in the summer here,
both with walkers and anglers, so for some quieter fishing we’re going to drive literally
round the corner. Unless you want to wade in mud over the other side by the estuary, Ramsgate undercliff is as close as you can get to fishing
Pegwell Bay from the shore nowadays. The old hoverport would be a good spot to
fish from but the authorities don’t want you going down there and much of the rest of the
bay is now a bird sanctuary. Luckily, the undercliff is a good spot. Free parking right next to your fishing and
at night or in colder times when there’s less people around, near high tide you can fish
out of the car and rest the rods on the railings.
